Banarasi Mashru Silk Saree in Deep Plum – Handwoven in Varanasi

Rooted in the 600-year-old weaving heritage of Banaras (Varanasi), this pure Banarasi Mashru silk saree in deep plum is a rare masterpiece of Indian handloom craft. Mashru — meaning “permitted” in Arabic — is a centuries-old silk-cotton weave where pure silk threads run on the outside and cotton on the inside, making it breathable, luxurious, and deeply rooted in Indian textile heritage. Woven by skilled Banarasi karigar on traditional pit looms, it features intricate real zari (gold thread) motifs — the hallmark of authentic Banarasi weaving — that shimmer with every drape.

  • Real zari (gold metallic thread) woven into the body and pallu

  • Handwoven in Varanasi (Banaras), Uttar Pradesh, India
